Certificate Programs
Maxwell offers two types of graduate certificates—Certificates of Advanced Study and Certificates Simultaneous With Degree.
Certificates of Advanced Study are offered independent of any other degree program. Students may pursue these 12-credit certificates without matriculating in any other Maxwell School program.
Certificate of Advanced Study in Public Administration. Many professionals leave their careers for just one semester and pursue the certificate in public administration, awarded after the completion of four P.A. courses, including the required Executive Education Seminar.
Certificate of Advanced Study in Leadership of International and Non-governmental Organizations. Nongovernmental organizations have emerged as able and legitimate actors in the international domain, playing a critical role in identifying, framing, and solving global problems. This certificate prepares leaders for that environment. The certificate requires four graduate courses, including the required Executive Education Seminar
Certificate of Advanced Study in Health Services Management and Policy. This certificate is designed to help healthcare-delivery and health-policy professionals find shared perspective. Students complete required courses on the American health care system and on health care management; two electives meant to complement each student’s background and strengths; and a capstone research paper or practicum.
Certificate of Advanced Study in Conflict Resolution. This certificate is designed to allow midcareer professionals and managers to learn the theory and practice of conflict resolution in an area of their choice. Specializations include international conflicts and their management, applied dispute resolution, collaborative management, social movements and strategies of conflict, and environmental conflict studies.
