WELCOME!
The Executive Education Programs Office, on behalf of the Maxwell School of Syracuse University, is delighted to welcome eleven new Humphrey Fellows for the academic year of 2009-2010!
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program provides ten months of professional enrichment in the United States for experienced professionals from designated countries throughout the world. Fellows are selected based on their leadership potential as well as their commitment to public service in either the public or private sector.
Each year approximately 160 Fellows funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State engage in non-degree study and related professional experiences at selected American universities. The Maxwell School of Syracuse University is delighted to welcome eleven Fellows this year! For a complete listing of Fellows, their backgrounds, and interests, please read the biographies here.
Begun in 1978, the program now has a network of over 3,700 alumni in 156 countries around the world working to improve their communities and the lives of those in need.
The Humphrey Fellows begin their orientation on August 12 at the Maxwell School. Please read over the tentative orientation schedule for upcoming events. Please note that this is a tentative schedule, subject to change.
Humphrey Fellows attending the Maxwell School will focus their research in the area of public administration and policy, for which the Maxwell School has been rated #1 for the past 18 years*. The Humphrey Fellows program fits especially well with the Executive Education Office whose mission is to provide a high quality professional program to mid-career students.
With over 60 years of experience working with mid-career professionals from around the globe, the staff is very familiar with helping each individual who comes through the program to sharpen their skills in a challenging academic environment!
While the Fellows are based in Syracuse, they will expand their knowledge of public administration practice, policy, and leadership, as well as improve their understanding of the United States and its citizens. Fellows will participate in the Humphrey seminar designed exclusively to address their interests, enroll in select courses specific to their needs, and participate in a wide range of leadership and professional development activities throughout the year.
We are excited to host our 2009 Humphrey Fellows, whose primary concern is to improve their corner of the world. We salute our Fellows, and look forward to meeting them soon!
