News & Notes
A Word from our Dean
Maxwell is unique.
- Unique in our multidisciplinary approach, as the barriers that divide academic disciplines from one another and from the larger world of public life are routinely breached by the wide-ranging scholarly and educational activities of our outstanding faculty.
- Unique in our history and traditions, developed since our establishment in 1924 as the first school of public administration.
- And unique in our reputation, as we've held the U.S.News and World Report spot as the top-ranked graduate school for public affairs since the rankings category was created in 1995.
However, we are like other institutions in at least one major way – we need to ensure that our financial resources match our will and our commitment to excellence. It is only with the support of our alumni and friends that we can continue to prepare students to carry out their responsibilities as informed citizens, educators, and public leaders at home and abroad.
It is for this reason that we have launched this website to share news with you and keep you involved in the development of the Maxwell School. This section has communiqués from the School's fundraising team and letters I periodically send out to those interested in the development of Maxwell. We look forward to continuing to share news and information with you through this website.
Maxwell has never mattered more - and neither have you.
--- Mitchel Wallerstein, Dean of the Maxwell School
