Welcome

The Maxwell European Union Center of Excellence works in tandem with the Syracuse University Center for European Studies to advance understanding of the political, economic, and social events that shape the integration of Europe and the functioning of the European Union. It does this primarily by supporting scholarship and learning about the European Union, as well as communicating our activities to the Maxwell School, Syracuse University, and beyond.  Our main areas of focus around which our activities are centered are Governance and Civil Society, Security, and Transnational Mobility.

Among our many ongoing activities, the Maxwell EU Center organizes and sponsors workshops and conferences, sponsors public lectures about the EU and its member states, funds the development of new and existing courses on the European Union, provides financial assistance to graduate students and faculty pursuing research on topics related to the EU, and sponsors the Maxwell School’s Global Europe program.  The MEUC is also engaged in outreach programs with post secondary institutions and business organizations of the region.

Part of the Network of EU Centers created to examine the process and policy problems of European integration and their implication for the United States, the Maxwell EU Center is funded by the European Commission and the Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs.

This webpage provides detailed information regarding the various programs and activities supported by the Maxwell EU Center.  Please get in touch if you need any additional information about us.
