Welcome to the South Asia Center

Syracuse University has a well established and extensive involvement in teaching and research on the South Asian region: the nations of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The South Asia Center of Syracuse University, a part of the Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs, is a United States Department of Education National Resource Center.

The Center participates in collaboration with Cornell University to form a consortium with a focus on the research and scholarship of the countries in the South Asia region. The South Asia Center coordinates a variety of colloquia, films, cultural programs, and other activities for the Syracuse University community as well as for faculty and students at nearby colleges. The South Asia Center is pleased to announce that we will be partnering with the Rosamond Gifford Zoo for another Asian Elephant Extravaganza. This year's extravaganza will be held on Saturday, August 18th, from 10 am until 4 pm at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo.
